In order to educate people on taking proper care of their body, Tiffany Brien, a fitness blogger has shared a “bad day” photo of herself.


Tiffany posted side-by-side photos of herself looking really bloated and another where her stomach is flat and she revealed that the photos were taken just 12 hours apart. The first one before going to bed and the second one after she had woken up.

‘We are not all what we seem on social media,’ she wrote.

‘I thought I would share a bad day with you to show you nobody is ‘perfect’ and it is ok to have an off day where your body just decides to not play ball. Don’t worry girls, it happens to the best of us.’

Tiffany had been struggling for years with bloated stomach and she tought that the reason were lack of sleep, stress, food intolerances and hormones.

In order to find out what was causing it, she did a lot of research and she discovered that her bloated stomach was normally triggered by consuming certain foods and activities that caused her stress.

Nevertheless, she still didn’t know what had cause her stomach to bloat in some occasions.

She said: ‘I have gone over everything I ate and I was relatively clean so it could be something I think is ‘healthy’ that my body now thinks ‘naaa no likey’.

‘Sometimes your body becomes intolerant to something you’ve always eaten, you just have to work it out. Fun game though? No. Not really.’

Beside hormones and lack of sleep, stress also affected her negatively.

Tiffany explains: ‘Stress. The killer. I have a busy and stressful job which pushes me every day. I love my job and wouldn’t change it for the world but I have to factor in de-stress time to help me unwind and allow my insides to untwist after a tough day in the office.Yoga, walks with the dog or just putting my feet up and watching Netflix normally do the trick.’

Tiffany used her photos to make her point but she also said that she is far away of being perfect or being a role model when it comes to lloking after herself. She adds that we all have our areas of weakness.

She says that eventhough she knows what is causing her this problem, she finds it difficult to implement it into her lifestyle. However, she is trying to sleep more and relax, eat healthy, so she is definitely seeing some improvemtnts. That’s the reason why she decided to share tips and photos of herself.

Here’s why you might be suffering with a bloated stomach

It is very common for people to suffer from a bloated stomach, but luckily there is an easy fix.

Long-lasting conditions that cause bloating, including irritable bowel syndrome and coeliac disease.

Bloating can be exacerbated by stress.

Food intolerance could be an issue. However, there are not many people that are genuinely intolerant of food groups like dairy and gluten so you need to see a qualified nutritionist for a proper diagnosis.

If bloated stomach is just a short-term state, it means that you may simply have excess wind, constipation or you could be swallowing air when talking or eating.

Tiffany’s tips to treat bloating include:

  • Write a food dairy and reflect where and when you bloat.
  • Drink peppermint tea to soothe your tum.
  • Look into gut health supplements – multivitamins and probiotics.
