The 20$ bill is no longer going to have Andrew Jackson. Look at what it’s being changed to instead. Should Obama leave our money the way that it is?
According to American Overlook in an online poll, Americans spoke loud in clear that they want to replace Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill with Harriet Tubman.
Because American currency is dominated with white and very male, a campaign called Women on 20s set it’s sites to spread awareness and push for a woman on the bill.
During the two rounds of voting the contenders were Harriet Tubman, Wilma Mankiller, Eleanor Roosevelt, or Rosa Parks for the new face of the twenty.
Harriet Tubman had the most votes with 118,328.
To change our currency the power lies in the hands of the Secretary of Treasury, Jack Lew, who was appointed by Obama… need we say more.
The campaign has now breached over 750,000 votes, America wants a change. They hope the president will utilize his influence to put Tubman on the $20 bill.
So far Obama thinks it’s a “pretty good idea.”
What do you think about having the American $20 changed to this?
